Snap bids? How do they work?
by: confusedSnap bids, how do you get one? Are they like COB bids and how are they different?

Yes and no, COB starts after bid day and only a very certain few does it, but sometimes those who does are on the low about it. It’s mainly because a certain chapter/house didn’t meet quota. According to Panhellenic website, snap bids are “ Snap bidding ends when bids are distributed on Bid Day during Primary Recruitment.” Snap bids are given out on bid day or before, can’t remember it’s mainly when a sorority didn’t meet quota. So let’s say (just an example no hate) Zeta didn’t meet quota because they were too selective, mainly girls who were dropped completely from the process from all houses. If you had 2 houses during Pref then you are most likely not eligible for a snap bid. They’re usually rare (may not be but I haven’t seen one) and only the Panhellenic knows who the snap bid girls are or girls who withdrew from the process. COB is different from snap bids. COB happens AFTER bid day and usually only happens if a certain sorority or chapter didn’t meet quota. There’s a few of them every year. But sometimes the certain sorority or chapter does COB they are either very open about it or very low key about it.

Do sororities Have to take the quota amount? Can they just say we got the girls we want and be done? Like fraternities. They don’t have set number of pledges.
For instance Kappa had 148 when quota was 150. They don’t really see any of the other girls they origbanly dropped being a “fit” do they have to get to that number?

A sorority cannot be forced to take anyone. That is per NPC. They do not have to take Quota, they do not have to take Quota Plus, they do not have to offer Snaps, they do not have to COB, and the mandated release numbers during recruitment are actually minimum numbers, meaning that a house can actually release more in a round if they wish. Is it in their and everyone else's best interest to take Quota and Quota Plus and keep up their House Total? Of course it is.

If I’m not too clearly about snap bids then let me correct myself. Snap bids are given out only if a girl withdrew or completely dropped from the process and the sorority dropped then and decided they wanted them back and would be a good fit then they would be a given snap bid. To be eligible for one you gotta withdrew from the process or be completely dropped to get one. If you maximize your options during Pref then you are not eligible
