even if you don’t get a cob there is still sophomore rush which can go better for some people especially if you bring up your grades and get involved or make friends in houses

This is very common. this is why all ole miss’ rush is so late. So people can’t drop out and transfer if they don’t get the house they want

No this is not very common.

Way to show your age. That’s what girls did in like the 60s or 70s when this stuff literally determined your life as a woman in the south.

Of course, it's ridiculous to transfer because you didn't get the house you wanted, but believe it or not, it still goes on in Mississippi. Ole Miss makes it hard to just up and leave, but a few years ago MS State used variable quota for the first time, and so many PNMs withdrew before classes started that the university considered moving rush to the first week of the semester.

Do ppl really drop out if they don’t get a bid?

By: What
by: Yes

They do. Not super common, but 2 girls from my high school did. They waited a semester then transferred. For most, sorority life is just as important as getting degree. When you are groomed for it all your life from grandmothers, mothers, friends, its really hard when you don’t get the right sorority (or a sorority period). Call it dumb but my friends were much happier at a different school where they pledged than being a non Greek at Alabama.

Transferring after a semester because it was a bad fit is one thing. Calling Daddy and asking him to move you out before classes even start is something else.

it honestly happens a lot. I know girls who didn’t get the house they wanted here and then at the end of the semester transferred to a school like SMU or UR that rushes second semester

Transferring to SMU after a bad rush at Bama seems like a risky move. They only have eight houses and quotas in the 50s or 60s. Most PNMs only want the top three or five. The bottom houses are stigmatized way worse than they are here and struggle with numbers. Not to mention it's an insanely expensive school.

it’s a risky move for sure but it happens!! My roommate freshman year transferred to SMU after not getting a bid here and ended up pledging theta there which is top house but also we are both from Dallas so it made more sense. I also know a girl who took a theta COB bid here and then transferred to UT and joined theta there

I COB and it was the best decision I ever made

I tried to COB after rush my freshman year and no one called. Rushed again as a sophomore and got a bid from an old row house. My advice, don’t transfer, make friends on your own and if you want to COB or rush again do it. Your bama experience is not 100% dependent on being Greek.

First of all, NO ONE cares about OLD ROW and NEW ROW. No one. Bama now has over 60% of its students from OOS. Thank G-D!

I cared when I rushed and it lowkey sounds like you do too bc you’re so bent out of shape about it. Anyways that really wasn’t the point of my post bc I obviously wasn’t in a house for a full year. I simply wanted the OP to know that this week doesn’t have to define your time here.

I did cob after formal rush and best decision ever. But I know lots of girls who it did not go well for. So there’s no way to know
