Thoughts on KD? What’s their rep on campus?
by: pnmI really liked them but want to know more about their overall vibe on campus. Do they go to the big parties? Are they popular? What’s their reputation?

If you aren’t from birmingham or mobile, basically cross this one off ur list. Their pledge classes are picked out months before rush and had to give over 30 snap bids last year bc they thought they were set when in reality no one wants to join a sorority where they are considered a “ninja” if they aren’t in THAT group. And no, i’m not exaggerating, they call the outcast girls that. they don’t intermix with other girls in the pledge class, unless you and your friends From high school are going KD I don’t recommend

they are called ninjas because they “sneak into the sorority” like they weren’t supposed to be there in the first place. heart breaking to be called that after everyone goes through so much hurt and rejection during rush and you finally get into a house and you are STILL
being hurt and rejected by your “sisters”

KD puts on a great rush for the girls they want. Best placement, last to leave, tons of energy and attention.
Then you pledge. You are either in-state hanging with the exact same girls as your high school or out of state, trying to figure out your place. It’s cliquey and rush isn’t a reality.
Then you realize that this isn’t the place if you want to concentrate on your personal growth, grades, sisterhood, participate in Greek events (they don’t participate in HC events, Greek week, derby, etc). But, if you want to party a lot and live with the same old people in a giant clique, it is the place for you.
Rush is always a better version of every sorority, but most are not this much of an illusion. Watch the way that KD treats the “have nots” when you are sitting in the house during rush. That will tell you a lot about reality. This is not a happy, kind, cohesive, supportive house.

honestly this makes a lot of sense I’m from Texas and I have a friend two years older than me from my high school who went to bama and pledged KD and she told me not to follow in her footsteps because she regrets her decision so much

I’m a filler girl in KD and they act like I don’t exist. I’m not invited to mixers. It totally sucks but now I’m stuck so beware

Bumping bc of the post about watching how they treat others. If you are a top rushee, watch how they treat others snd not just yourself.
If you are not a top rushee, do the same. See if they are treating you with the same enthusiasm and respect. Don’t think things will change once you pledge.

Are you being swarmed? Are you the last one out the door? Are you being secretly contacted despite the rules? You’re a top rushee.
That’s great. Now look around and see how they are treating the other girls in the room. Do you care? If not, this is the place for you. If not, there are great places with a much truer sisterhood and kinder spirit.

It’s only about the local crew. You don’t count.

it means The night before bid day, they Will contact their favorites of their new pledge class and go party with them before bid day. they don’t invite everyone just their favorites.

This is extremely untrue and illegal? You obviously do not know anything about Greek life at Alabama because anyone who does knows that no one would ever do that

It is a thing. Maybe 10 years ago an alumni mom in Tuscaloosa took the “special” group out drinking the night before and they got caught. All the locals remember it.
She ended up divorced and moving out of town. It’s so damn true.
