The truth ab old row
by: The truth
As someone who went thru rush last year, the brutal truth is:
Everyone wants old row. Everyone wants one of the seven old row sororities before they want any of the new row. This is how it is across the board.
All of these “ranks” where old row is intermixed with new row within tiers is inaccurate.
Girls consistently rank the Old Row sororities higher within voting. When and if they get dropped, they then differentiate which of the new row houses they like most.
This is true among almost all PNMs. It’ll be true this year, and next year, and the year after that.
The old row houses have consistently been the TOP tier and most sought after houses. If you argue differently, you either don’t pay attention or got dropped by an old row house.
#12 by: For Some
I have to agree this is absolutely true for SOME. If your grandma can name the old row houses or your best friends from HS grandmas can, then OR has appeal.
But let’s be serious, if grandma (or your friends grandma) can’t name these houses then there really isn’t a “distinction”.
Despite what your read here, OR doesn’t have a lock on “money”. There are “rich” girls and girls on loans in every house, and the idea of “old money” isn’t relevant in any house to any large degree. When the topic of “old money” comes up, the conversation is usually cringe-worthy, y’all don’t have a clue.
Some OR houses may have a stronger southern/Christian/Conservative feel, and they like to think they have “more class”, but tastes across houses are generally more similar than different. You can find plenty of s-ut- outfits, girls jumping the fence (because they’ve slept with more than 3 guys in a certain frat) and girls who are too drunk in any house these days.
Physical structures are similar.
Parties and social events are similar. Yea, maybe some houses hang out more with guys from “the right” Alabama/certain-southern locales, again beneficial to some, but there are others who think - you can have them as they are stereotyped guys with Dad bods with bad hair.
Given that the numbers for out of state students are similar to in state, the appeal of OR is there - but certainly diminishing.
