is the machine still real

lol it is a bit weird if ur not in greek life or once u leave it lol but greek life normalizes the machine soooo much. it is essentially just getting as many people in greek life in student government as possible. and to have the largest portion of the voting student body supporting them. it looks a little lame and doesn’t sound serious but this way, greek life has an extremely strong hold on campus politics and they vote out anything they don’t like. they also vote to allocate funds so they can defund certain programs/clubs which can have serious implications. if ur not involved in student gov but still in greek life you’ll 100% be badgered by ur sorority to vote (and when they tell you to vote) and it’s heavily encouraged to vote a certain party and to vote for other greek life candidates. some sororities (cough agd, cough xo) are pretty intense on student gov involvement so they’ll also encourage/push a lot of their girls to run
