Only 2 years being an active.
by: Me
So I am 95% sure I only want to be an active for the first 2 years. I have a hard major, plan to study abroad and want to have more freedom with internships.
Should I keep this to my self or be honest? Which houses let you go early alum? Is maintaining alum status really that important/beneficial in the real world?

You can get excused from rush bc of internships, and my sorority lets you miss a semester and not pay anything. It’s hard to get early alum in any chapter. I’m a Chem E major and it’s manageable honestly. Sororities take up a lot of time your first year but after that u can be as involved or as least involved as you want. If you told me you were dropping out after two years, I would cut you from my house immediately.

Honestly lots of girls drop for lots of reasons. My chapter has very reduced dues if you study abroad. If you have others reasons like your parents will only pay for 2 years that's one thing, but no matter the reason keep it to your self. Try to go into it with the idea of 4 years. My major was HARD and I was in a "grades" house. Honestly I think it helped having sisters with the same major, especially the seniors when I was a junior.

You are not the only one who is academically and success oriented. You would be surprised how much help and support you can get from your sisters who are like-minded, especially older ones who have already been there and done that. They have advice and contacts that could make the most of what you want to do. Don't tell, just ask questions of actives about the things you want to do with travel and internships. They will most likely pair you with someone in your major during rounds.
