Nobody can say what is "okay" for you. Connections do help, of course. You can't do a thing about your GPA at this point so don't dwell on it or let it affect your personality during parties. That is what is in your control now. Sell yourself and let houses know you want them and make them want you and you'll run home. Good luck.

i’m not gonna lie, depending on how low your gpa is you’re gonna get cut from a lot of houses solely based on that first round. if you do make it to second be as personable as possible with the houses or house that wants you and basically just let your personality shine through. sell yourself up and show them how happy and excited you are to be there. and don’t forget you can always rush sophomore year and get your gpa up!!
