READ!!! Opinion from a former Panhellenic officer.
by: PAN LOVEI have been waiting for this day. The day I graduate and finally get to spill what I’ve learned from working as an officer for the Alabama Panhellenic Association. Some might say, “seriously? you’ve graduated and are worried about Greekrank?” Well… this position occupied much of my college experience and I’m ending it here. Let’s look at Recruitment this past year (2020). Straight off the bat I’ll tell you XO, Tri Delt, Phi Mu, and Zeta (alphabetic order) had the highest return rates by far and these houses competed for the same PNMs. For these houses, if a pnm didn’t choose one of these particular houses, she chose another of those listed. Phi Mu and Zeta cut the MOST girls first round (I think this bit them in the butt a little bit at the end of the day, but these houses obviously have very very specific girls they look for. Other houses take a more diverse range of women if we are being honest. Yes Panhellenic notices). AXO, AGD, Kappa, and KD were next following those and their return rates were pretty similar as well. Each year I look at the STATISTICAL data of rush week as well as the inner tea you find out along the way (we deal with punishments, rules, etc. so just imagine what we see each year). In my opinion, literally no house here is better than another. It’s all going to be based on a PNM’s personal preference. I will say I would lump AXO, AGD, XO (alphabetical) in a group and say these are the top houses for heavy grade focused/involved sisterhood. I would lump Tri Delt, Phi Mu, and Zeta (alphabetical) as the top houses for more of the social aspect. Finally, Kappa and KD are going to be your top houses for the in-state/NOLA girls who are wanting a more traditional vibe to their sisterhood experience. This is a non-biased/non-slander post. Of the sororities I did not mention, nothing is wrong with them AT ALL. Great houses, just not as popular through out recruitment as the ones listed. I hope this helps and gives PNM’s some real insight.

I agree with this but let’s not be misleading. If you do not have a good high school GPA, you’ll be cut from AXO, AGD, and XO. If you are not financially inclined you’ll be cut from Phi Mu. If you are not attractive you’ll be cut from Zeta. If you are not from Alabama/don’t know anyone in Kappa and KD they are cutting you. Tri Delt is a good house and don’t really have a certain stereotype so let’s be honest they’ll catch some of the Zeta and Phi Mu leftovers (but Zeta and Phi Mu will definitely catch some of the less academically inclined/harder partiers that Tri Delt cuts). I’m so tired of everyone giving a false impression that a PNM will be able to choose whichever house they want. A PNM’s GPA, involvement, looks, wealth, and popularity on social media plays more of a role in their destiny. I had one roommate that was cut from AXO/AGD first round but kept Phi Mu and Zeta. My other roommate was cut from Zeta and Kappa first round but kept Phi Mu, XO, and Tri Delt. My point is, it’s all going to be based on the qualities of the PNM rather than the PNM’s personal preference. Plain and simple.

I was on PanX too and I can assure you that from sisterhood to pref AXO, PM, XO, DDD, AGD, and KKG all had basically the same return rate (they were all within 10% of each other). Then Zeta and KD had the same and were slightly below KKG. I don’t remember the exact numbers from philanthropy to sisterhood, but the numbers were like they always were with all of old row doing well with Zeta, Pi Phi, and ADPi close or equal to those old row houses. Zeta and Phi Mu did make the biggest first round cuts out of everyone. Overall, Zeta did well, but it definitely did not have the higher return rate than DDD, AXO, AGD, XO, PM or KKG overall. They might have had a higher return for some individual rounds though. Not sure why potentially last year’s director of recruitment, who was a Zeta, might be saying that Zeta had a higher return rate than AXO especially or that Phi Mu, DDD, XO, and Zeta competed for the same PNMs, when XO does not overlap with Zeta hardly at all. But PNMs, don’t worry about “return rates” just put down the girls you like talking to the best and you will be great.

I think this post is helpful in just letting PNMs know these are the ones that get great returns so they have to cut the most. Not getting one or more of these houses back is not a negative reflection on you, it’s a numbers game and you will still get in a great house. But PNMs don’t need to get all tangled up in specific stats and numbers after each round. Don’t overthink it just go through the process and have fun with it.

This info is actually true and if you look hard enough online can find the return rates for the past year. Whoever is saying the return rate info is incorrect is probably in one of the houses that fell short to Zeta this year and is having hard time swallowing that pill. Maybe you should try harder this year. I do think because Zetas PC this year broke out of the normal social schedule and the fact that they were seen at SAE , KA and a few other of the OR frats date parties and formals will have an appeal to the instate girls who don’t just want to hang with PIKE. My money is on CHI O , Zeta and Tri Delta to sweep the row this year based off of PNM GC chatter . KD , Kappa and Phi Mu will lose girls to all three of these.

is a 3.5-3.6 good enough for axo and agd? and how does phi mu know if you're financially inclined or not?
