Polar opposites for pref
by: PnpIs it common/rare to have totally polar opposite houses for pref? Like Kappa and DZ or Phi Mu and Theta? (I’m just using those as how they ranked here.) An older girl i know said she had Alpha Chi and Gamma Phi for her pref. She went alpha chi but from what i reading those seem polar opposites.

It definitely happens sometimes but it’s a lot less common than getting 2 very similar houses. Right off the top of my head, some of the really common ones I’ve heard are kd/kappa, adpi/aopi/dg, aphi/zeta, gphi/dz, etc. But the houses, while having their own vibes, all have a LOT more in common with each other than this site would make you think, so “polar opposites” really aren’t the opposite and they do happen

I preffed KKG and AGD, which are considered “opposites” but they both have really “real” and genuine girls in my opinion, which is what I was looking for. Even though KKG has more fun, and AGD has more grades/involvement, I decided to pull a wildcard and pref those two bc i knew I would be happy in both. I only got dropped by one house all week (I’m from Alabama and I was a in-house legacy to 4 old row houses bc of my grandma, mom, step-mom, and sis, so I had every possible advantage) so it’s not like I didn’t choose those houses. If I was PNM, I would get off this site because you can be very happy in basically every house with the right attitude

I had two polar opposites, like absolute total opposites both in terms of vibe and "ranking"! I won't say which two for anonymity's sake but literally everyone I've told about it is pretty shocked by the pairing.
Honestly I don't think it's as unusual as you'd expect, we're all multifaceted individuals and different houses might appeal to different aspects of our personalities. For me, I thought both my choices offered such different experiences that comparing them was pointless and so I just went with my heart knowing I'd be happy in either one.

I had polar opposites. Looking back I shudder to think what could have been. Because i would have never fitted in. I was so clueless about rush and i was so sure about my top choice that I keep the polar opposite around because i liked 2 girls and didn’t want to hurt their feelings. Who did I think i was? LOL

odd pair to pref but at the same time definitely makes sense!! i see the cool girls of agd hanging out with kd/kappa/pm when they go out so there are definitely intersections between the two, especially for alabama girls.
i actually preffed pm and gphi ;) and i’m the only girl in my pc who preffed this combo lol. i’m OOS and well rounded af, and the two appealed to me in diff ways. i liked phi mu’s well rounded put together vibe and that they would push me to be involved and get to know diff people. i liked gphi bc they are very OOS/OOR and i related to the girls more in terms of sense of humor, how they dressed, interests, etc and i found them to be more genuine and laidback.
ultimately, all houses are more alike than they seem and while chapter stereotypes are based in some truth, there are always girls who will prove you wrong. just make the best of your rush and go with your gut!
