Bad sorority houses?
by: pnmGoing into sorority rush are there any houses that have a bad rep that i should be cautious about? just looking for your opinions

Every sorority here is objectively one of the strongest chapters of their nationals (with the exception of SK because they’re new, but they’ll get there too eventually).
What is a bad house for you will be a great house for someone else, and vice versa. But I’d say that generally, the sorority experience is what you make of it.

Go through recruitment with an OPEN MIND. Listen only to yourself. Make decisions based on what YOU feel and you will be happy in the end. Tiers, ranks, and other BS on this site make no difference IRL. No house is "better" than another. Find a house that you fit into and go with that.

It’s been said before but worth noting again….
If you are from a “local area” and are known by groups of girls in certain houses (like from HS, church, etc), then not getting a bid to a certain house (mostly old row) may feel like being “shunned”.
Other than that - all houses have similar physical properties, social activities, etc. None are “bad”.
Yea, there are some trends that differentiate the types of girls in each house. but with about 400 girls in a house and 130 in a pledge class, those stereotypes hardly describe everyone in the house. These “types” and trends are pretty exaggerated here on GR. In the broader world - sorority girls at Bama (no matter the house) are more similar than “different”!
Despite what people suggest about cross rushing - lots of girls have “very different” houses at pref - proof the differences aren’t that great between house.
It’s about you and the group of friends you will make and activities you pursue.

Every house here is the best of the best - even being apart of greek like at Alabama is a HUGE honor. Go into rush with an open mind, you may think youre going to get all the houses back each round but may find yourself left with only a few options. I accepted my bid from a "lower middle" tier house, although I had a previous impression of it based on this site, I ended up LOVING it and making friends I will have in my wedding. I know its easy to be picky, but pls go in with an open mind.

The majority of pnm’s going through rush would fit in any house. Unfortunately its a numbers game of grades, contacts, and luck. If you don’t get back your favorite houses (based on pre notions/GR) stay focused and head in the game until bid day. Out of 400 girls you going to find your group.

exactly!!!
a lot of pnms get fixated on the aesthetics of a house’s social media but seem to forget that it’s social media run by mainly one girl and a few assistants. i hated my house’s ig feed before rush and still do yrs later 🤣 doesn’t mean me and my friends don’t fit into our house and love it.
also agree on sorority girls being more similar than different. plenty of girls find their friend groups in their sorority but EVERY sorority girl has friends and best friends in other houses!!!!! i honestly feel that you could have a friend group in any sorority! i preffed phi mu and gphi lol and i to this day can see myself in either house
