New row retention

by:

I am wondering which new row house has the best retention rate? I know most of the old row houses have high retention but I’m from far OOS so I’m not going to get my hopes up for an OR house. Obviously I’m going to see what house fits me best during rush but I would like to stay in my sorority all 4 years and I know that some of the NR houses have poor retention.

This is dumb. No one knows the retention rates of houses they aren’t in. I don’t even know the retention rate of my own house. As far as anecdotal evidence goes, i here the most about girls dropping aphi, zeta, theta, and gphi for various reasons but take that with a grain of salt because it could just be the girls I know

If you really wanted to you could calculate it from the grade report based on the past 4 pledge classes vs current total actives.

Example (not to pick on either of these houses, just looked at top and bottom of 2020 grade report)
2017-2020 total NMs for AGD: 474
2020 fall total actives: 410
4 year retention rate: 86%

17-20 total NMs for alpha phi: 725
2020 fall actives: 391
4 year retention rate: 54%

NR retention isn’t a measure of sisterhood as much as some would like you to believe here.

The OOR region girls are a little more prone to transfer schools (from being homesick as well as other factors).

Also, as they mature, sorority life is less important to OOR girls, when they won’t be returning hometown after graduation with all their sisters - they make other friends; have a solid friend group; take semesters abroad, etc. And, the expense just doesn’t make sense as they find sorority life becomes less of their college experience junior and senior years.
