are masks required for rush

since bama has taken away masks on campus and restrictions are being lifted, do we have to wear masks during rush week?

as of rn that's up in the air. my guess would be vaccinated = no mask, no vaccine = mask.

it's gonna be super hard to police that on the rush days though. even though last year's bid day was strictly mask-on, a lot didn't wear theirs / keep them on.

Your rush counselor will check your vaccination card and if you are vaccinated you can take off your mask. If not, you'll have to wear one. They're not being too specific because they don't want to scare off girls, but that is the plan.

but asking for a vaccine card violates hipaa and the governor of alabama just passed a law making it illegal to ask for vaccine cards

so ig we’ll see but sounds like it will end up being at your discretion

Clearly you don't understand hipaa. Being required to show vaccinations is NOT a hipaa violation. The governor's directive makes it illegal to require you to be vaccinated to be in the sorority; however, they can impose mask or quarantine requirements if you are not vaccinated.

To go back to “normal” activities, they are going to ask that you either show your vaccine card or wear a mask to participate. You chose to not show your vaccine card? That’s your right but then you chose to wear a mask. You chose to also not wear a mask? Then you chose to not participate. Same will go with dates at date parties.

This is definitely not true considering every single sorority and fraternity broke the rules and took their masks off last year at the parties once they were inside. And by the end of the year no one wore masks inside the houses. They may choose to be more strict during rush for the optics of it all (they got a ton of hate last year during bid day for not being “careful enough”) but after rush I predict it won’t matter at all.

There are no mask for recruitment or anything else this year . Of course if you feel more comfortable than wear one. Also the vaccine is not a requirement to attend school or work on campus only a recommendation. You will also not be required to show proof.
