Sorority Recommendations
by: Tay01I’m going to rush this fall and don’t know who to ask for rec letters. No one in my family has been in a sorority and none of my friends are currently in one. If I don’t have any letters at all, can this be a factor into not getting a bid?

Yes. Even though they say they’re “optional but recommended” there are definitely houses that will drop you if you don’t have one. Not every house obviously, but if you want to maximize your options it’s in your best interest to find recs. I was in the exact same situation as you but I reached out to my teachers and other women in my community for help, try posting on your town or city’s Facebook groups. You’d be surprised how many people are willing to help you out.
