by: topic

so i've seen other rankings based on different things but I was wondering how the chapters compare to each other nationally? I know it doesn't mean anything for individual chapters but I was curious to see

Alpha Phi, Chi O, Zeta, Pi Phi, Theta , Tri Delta, Gamma phi , DZ, Chi O , DG all have very strong Nationals . The top five would be Chi O, Zeta, Tri Delta, Theta and Alpha Phi

dg has had a bunch of chapters they’ve closed recently, I think their nationals are a lot weaker than they seem. I’d honestly swap in phi mu over them

There is no such thing as picking a house because it's strong nationally. If girls did that at Bama the rankings would be upside down

I assume that's just a list and not an order cause I feel like AKA would be top with DST. I know we all say that we're in this for life, but for the most part, the majority of ladies eventually are NOT involved with their orgs anymore. Historically black sororities are actually in it forever and you better believe that when her baby is initiated, grandma is gonna be there in head to toe pink and green with her letters proudly displayed, and might even join the line. I really admire them.

My mom was awkward about wearing her pin when I was initiated to my house and she sure as hell isn't throwing house signs with me. Hahaha!\n\n\n\n\n

@Yuh This is so right it's funny! My best friend is an AKA, her mom was an AKA, her grandma was an AKA, and I swear it goes on. Both of them are still active in Alumni and proudly wear their colors and letters. My friend grew up wanting to be AKA and pretty much knew that if she didn't get accepted by them, she wasn't gonna be greek because there was no other option for her. My mom is a sorority alumnae too, but when I called her during recruitment and told her that I fell in love with a house that wasn't hers, she couldn't have cared less and wished me luck. Yes, I know some Panhellenic alumni can be that dedicated too, but over all I don't think it's that hardcore

Historically black sororities have smaller numbers over all but they make up for it in dedication.

No on is EVER going to agree on this because everyone's opinion is so different based on who they know at different schools, but I'll play along for fun. In my experience this seems to be the rank of how well known/prevelent they all are nationally, not necessarily where they rank at schools, but based on how much you hear them talked about and such.

KKG XO DG KD KAT
DDD PBP ZTA APHI ADPI AXO
PM AOPI DZ GPHI
AGD SK AXID SDT DPHIE
SSS AEPHI ASA AST PSS TPA

Struggled with where to put AGD. I'm from the north and they're not really known outside of Bama, idk anyone from home in an AGD but in Bama they're really popular. Just super hard to do this list unbiasedly

Copied from UTK’s page; I think this is the most fair take on national ratings that I’ve seen.

The national ratings convo is almost impossible to have bc people's opinions on that are so subjective based on their experiences. Here's how it really is: 18/26 of the panhellenic sororities are pretty well known nationally. You probably know at least one girl in each of these chapters at another school. All have 100+ chapters and a large alum network. Here they are, in alphabetical order:

1. Alpha Chi Omega
2. Alpha Delta Pi
3. Alpha Gamma Delta
4. Alpha Omicron Pi
5. Alpha Phi
6. Alpha Xi Delta
7. Chi Omega
8. Delta Delta Delta
9. Delta Gamma
10. Delta Zeta
11. Gamma Phi Beta
12. Kappa Alpha Theta
13. Kappa Delta
14. Kappa Kappa Gamma
15. Phi Mu
16. Pi Beta Phi
17. Sigma Kappa
18. Zeta Tau Alpha

The only thing I'd maybeeee change about this is take AXiD off. All the other chapters have tons of chapters in EVERY region, even if they aren't necessarily strong in every region. AXiD is almost non-existent in the south, which is the biggest region for Greek life. However I do agree that they're decent enough in other regions that I still know a few AXiDs at other schools, so I'm torn.

I'm honestly surprised axid doesn't get a new philanthropy... If not because of the moral implications, but even for just PR purposes. My friend in the north wants to be a special ed teacher and said no way was she going AXiD at her school and supporting their philanthropy further

THESE ARENT IN ORDER
Phi mu- (only big in south but solid still/good reps)
Tri delt (pretty solid nationally)
KKG-(good rep don’t hear much ab them nationally)
DG- (pretty solid all over/good rep/good grades/pretty girls)
SK- (super big in the north but expanding in south/good rep)
Chi Omega-(good southern rep but lots of “mean girls”)
Zeta-(only big in southern/eastern schools/not the best rep but “hot”)
Theta (extremely solid- good “smart” National rep)
ADPI-(iffy nationally but big at certain schools such as some in AZ never really hear ab them)
APHI-(big nationally for the amount of members but overshadowed by their poor rep everywhere)
AXO-(only big in south but good rep. “Alpha Christ”)
KD-the “BEST” sorority only if your from mountain brook otherwise u won’t ever hear ab them.
AlphaGam- never heard of them before coming to the bama but good rep so far
AOPI- don’t hear much nationally ab them but known for being nice smart girls.

these are from headquarters website/ wikipedia and I’m not sure if it’s up to date but considering that a sorority’s reputation differs a lot regionally and nationally, I thought this was the most fair

You left out AOPi; Google says 195,000.
Should probably factor in amount of active chapters too!
