do they look at weighted or unweighted GPA?

by: blahhh

hey! i’m a current PNM and i spent my last two years of high school taking IB classes. however, we get +10 additional points to our grade (so say i make an 83 unweighted, it’ll show as a 93 on the transcript) - anyways! we do our GPA by the 100 point scale rather than the 4.0 scale so i have a weighted 91 at the moment. that’s an unweighted 86 roughly. anyways, that’s like a 3.4 unweighted i think? and it may go down since i tanked last semesters classes. anyways, i really don’t want my grades to be the reason i don’t get into one of the top tier sororities. i’ve worked hard all of high school but my mental health/health problems in general have taken a huge toll on my attendance and grades. do sororities ask you about that? i feel that they should. because there’s a big difference in someone rushing with a low GPA that didn’t try/isn’t smart compared to someone like me that did try/is smart but struggled greatly with my mental health/health in general. :(

Sorry to say it’s unweighted. You could however have your recs explain what happened in their letters while highlighting some things you’ve done (like IB, good job on being really smart!). Bring it up in rush but use it as an opportunity to explain how you can overcome obstacles. Don’t worry too much.
