Do you actually go to school here? They are not actually a looks house. 10% of their girls are hot, 60% are average and the other 30% are fuglies.

This! When you walk around campus and actually go to school here you see girls all over the place wearing zeta letters and think to yourself I thought they were a looks house?

They’re only a looks house if you see their 20 pretty girls on social. On campus you will see a hundred of them that are basic or worse.

DDD, PM and PBP all have prettier/hotter girls. But they’re classier too.

Have you see the girls they took last year? They are nothing to look at!

@firstreply Oh, it’s definitely biased, as I said at the beginning. I wrote it from the perspective of an instate girl and WHY a lot of instate girls think that or feel that zta is “bad”, I guess you didn’t pick up on that though. Also, the six paragraphs helped make my thoughts clear and concise to explain my POV! I clarified I think zta is a great house and has a lot of draw to it. But understanding the biases and assumptions held by instate girls is important for a house to know so they can improve their rush and reputation IMO. Also, I said I had changed my perception since I started college :)

Also, I didn’t say I didn’t like zta anywhere, I just explained why some people think they’re not a strong house!

According to relatives who were here at the time, ZTA has been recruiting for looks since at least the 1980s. I could be wrong, but it seems like an exaggeration to say they struggled with recruitment just because they weren't OR, even before RFM and the jump in OOS enrollment.

Why isn't Zeta Old Row if they were one of the first 3 Sororities on campus?

I was at Bama in the 90s and Zeta did NOT recruit on looks. They competed with ADPi and AOPi for average girls and they were always low on the GPA ranking.

Old Row isn’t determined based on when a sorority came to campus. Old Row started with fraternities and it was the first six that were here.

They then picked their six favorite sororities to join them as “Old Row.” It was DDD, KD, AXO, AGD, KKG and XO. In the 90s their was drama with the Machine and Phi Mu, so they let Phi Mu join, but it was out of pity.

Zeta was on campus in the 1920s at the same time the rest of the Old Row houses came. It’s not like Zeta was the first house (KD was). So even though they were here before a few of the other Old Row sororities, the Old Row fraternities didn’t invite them to be part of the group.

Your lengthy explanation sounds exactly like a threatened girl. The houses that get the most criticism tend to be the ones others feel challenged by. If they weren’t a threat you wouldn’t say a thing, so apparently they are doing something right.

Their girls are just clones of each other. Average white girls who love spray tans, hair extensions and fake nails.

Nothing about them stands out. They don’t really do anything with campus politics and don’t hold hardly a leadership positions in anything. Very uninvolved house.

They’re bar rats with bad reputations. Oh the stories I have heard about their parents weekend and girls sleeping with their pledge sisters’ dads.

Harsh but I'd say I've had a similar experience. I've met some nice Zetas for sure, but they're the kind of girl that will talk to you everyday in class but then like not follow you back on instagram lol. I have nothing against Zeta and think it's a good house for a certain type of girl, but I agree I feel like I can't really be myself around them or they would think I'm weird lmao

I concur. Hate to say it because I think Zeta IS a good house in lots of ways, but this is accurate. I don't like how mean it sounds to call girls fake or shallow, but at the end of the day that is definitely the vibe of many girls in Zeta. And that's the answer to the OP of why people don't like them.

I know some mean girls in Zeta, and they LOVE being in Zeta and are all Zeta af all the time, live and die for it.
I know some really genuinely kind girls in Zeta, and they're not very happy in it.

It sounds awful but they just aren’t nice girls. They’ll act nice to ur face when u rush and then once you get a bid you see how looks oriented and sad their rush process is. There’s always exceptions so I’m sure there are some very sweet girls but lots of zetas are plastic, mean girls who genuinely think they are better than you because of their letters

Calling them gorgeous is quite a stretch. They have maybe 30 gorgeous girls and 275 very much average ones. The rest gained the freshman 30 and kept it on.

Their are several other houses with more hot girls.

They’ve been exposed for dirty rushing... a few years ago screenshots from their official GroupMes were posted and it showed their rush chairs and other members of Exec encouraging their members to dirty rush.

I agree they aren't as well rounded or strong as OR, however when it comes to rush, they're definitely in the game. They are very good at recruiting which is important. Lots of girls who have a shot at OR are still interested in ZTA, they don't necessarily pick it over an OR house but ZTA is still very strong at recruitment.

They’re nowhere near being a top house. I’d rank them probably #8th best house out of the 17.

There are four girls in ZTA from my hometown. All four came to Alabama with very questionable reputations. ZTA looked the other way and gave bids to all four (they’re in different pledge classes).

They don’t get the well-rounded top girls that all the top houses want. They only focus on looks. All the “looks” girls that have more to offer like good grades, homecoming queen, cheerleader, class president, from prominent families, etc, aren’t interested in ZTA. They want Old Row or Pi Phi.
