Does high school gpa matter if you are rushing as a freshman in the fall?

Try get at least a 3.3, higher if possible. It’s one of the only things that will get you automatically cut from any house

I have an older sister there and YES!!! She had a 3.5 ,OOS, lots of activities, and 1 rec's for most houses(she didn't take this part seriously). Her invites went like this
9 parties second round
8 parties third round
Preffed her top 2
Ended up in her #1 house from the beginning

Her Rho Chi told her that her GPA and not having 2 rec's per house caused the first round of cuts to be so harsh. She said girls she knew with lower than a 3.5 had even harsher cuts and in the end had very limited choices. She did end up in a so called top house.

Are GPAs considered weighted or viewed based on where you go to school? Asking because I go to a prep school (way OOR) that grades very difficultly compared to public schools. While I have good grades (all As and Bs), I’m not close to a 4.0. Will me being from a school like this help or hurt me? I haven’t committed yet so if it’s going to hurt me, that will definitely sway my decision.

You can get a counsellor or a rec to mention your rigorous curriculum :) But I think the general consensus is that its harder to get near a 4.0 at a prep school than a public school so don't worry.
