how often do scandals go untouched

by: curious

I go to another school that has had a scandal of two girls that loudly saying the n word on video and it went semi viral on insta. No repercussions from the sororities at all (the one girl just got a bid). Just wondering how y’all manage to get people to actually take action for something like this

It depends on the severity of the incident. And we have to look at consequences on an individual level and on a house level... meaning, a girl may post something and she may be the only one to face the consequences, while sometimes the entire house also faces consequences.

For example, the Harley Barber scandal in 2018:
1. HB was kicked out of the sorority/university.
2. APhi’s nationals came in and did an entire “clean out” of other problematic sisters... the house ended up loosing nearly half of their members through the “clean out” by nationals as well as other girls willingly leaving with them.

It is too bad that your alumnae advisors are not all over that kind of thing. Sorority actives in leadership positions are inexperienced and need someone to turn to who can help them work out all the different sides of an issue and offer the possibilities and repercussions when important decisions have to be made. Advisors do not and should not make the decisions for the chapter, unless there is an extraordinary circumstance, but an experienced advisor is a huge chapter resource. A good chapter advisor, rush advisor, and financial advisor are what separates very successful chapters from ones who have problems. They are hard to find; it is an unpaid, time-consuming volunteer job.
