Cliques In OR Houses
by: pnmHi i’m a far OOR pnm with very few connections. i’ve done enough reading on this site to figure out that the top OR and some NR have their main friend groups they’re rushing and then extras. i’m not interested in that. i don’t want to be in a sorority where i feel excluded so my question is - which houses will i not get that feeling in

Honestly, that happens in all houses to some degree. There will be the girls that the exec members just love and they will be more of the “in” group. But, in basically all houses except KD, you can be part of that “it” group being OOR. It doesn’t matter where you are from. It really just depends on your personality. All of the houses have a great sisterhood so keep an open mind

Every house has cliques but the question is if they are made before Bid Day or after…meaning pre-made based on connections or organically made because you can’t be close friends with all 150 girls in your new member class.
The houses that extend bids to the most geographically diverse PNMs are the least likely to have pre-made cliques based on connections. OR primarily extends bids to PNMS from the same 4 Southern states so that results in pre-made cliques.
Houses where you’d be more on a level playing field in terms of having to make new friends that you don’t already know prior to joining college are (in no particular order):
PiPhi, SK, Gphi, Theta, DZ, AOpi, Zeta, DG, Aphi
Houses where the most pre-made cliques occur:
KD, KKG, XO, AXO, DDD
PM, AGD, and ADpi are hard to classify because over half of their new member classes are PNMs from Southern states but they have a large amount of OOR that just fit their mold.

It is important to understand that most members of any chapter do not want to be on exec. Those positions are stressful, time consuming, often thankless and misunderstood, and guaranteed that any kind of decision that is made is going to piss some people off. And some members that want to be on exec are not exactly good choices for any of those positions, for a variety of reasons. So the field of suitable candidates can be very narrow. A lot members are content with holding a much lower profile committee or chair position. And some don't want any more responsibilities beyond what is required for membership, either because they have a tough major or busy schedule, or organization and leadership isn't their thing, or because they only joined to party and post on insta and don't even like following the chapter rules. Exec is a hard job and not for just anyone, and most of these officers are also very focused on their academics, so anyone who thinks being on exec is just for status or some kind of power grab doesn't have a handle on the real life workings of sorority chapter management.
