I think we like to believe this because it’s nice, but there are definitely houses that give bids to PNMs they’d much rather drop just because they need to make quota. It’s not something to be ashamed of, just a fact of rush.

The top hasn't changed. Since the top are the most selective and stable in membership, grades, and involvement, they don't change much.

The others move around more and always seem to be pushing each other down trying not to be bottom, and trying to push themselves up on sites like this and sm to seem closer to top.

No one other than Zetas are saying that Zeta is top tier. They don’t have the grades, involvement on campus, or reputation. They are known for being a drama filled house and have a TON of girls drop out every year. Top houses don’t have that problem. Look at the numbers.

Most Zeta chapters are really good and that includes the chapter at Bama. Most Zeta bashing posts on here are Old Row biddies who are lost in time and can’t let go of the idea that affiliating with Budweiser makes you better than everybody else.

And yes, Zeta has a look, and yes they have a lot of cheerleaders and pageant winners and that includes the 2020 Miss Alabama (Auburn) and a lot of their girls could model.

And no, not a Zeta, just tired of lame old bats trying to “put them in their place” which they can’t cause it’s not 1980 anymore.

A pageant winner who goes to Auburn has nothing to do with Zeta at Bama. The OP has nothing to do with beer, just the most selective chapters, and Zeta is definitely not.

No, your are still wrong. About 50% of the students are from out of state and what they want may not be the same as in-state/old row. You cannot say old row is most desirable overall because there is a large group of rushees who want to pledge a house that is good in their hometown. If you are from Texas or California or even Kentucky, your top houses are different than the hometown girls. Your mistake is assuming that everyone going through rush is from Birmingham, Huntsville or Mobile.

So you are saying that a girl from CA wants a house in AL because it's top in her hometown? That's the dumbest way ever to pick a house at the school you actually attend. Everyone knows where their houses are bottom, and it's not like she will fool anyone in her hometown into thinking she pledged a top chapter. If a girl pledges an easier to join or less selective house here and then transfers to that school in her state where it is top, they know.

Just like that girl in CA who forms her opinion of what house is top based on where top pnms from her hometown and high school pledge, girls from B'ham also know who pledges what house, top and bottom. The difference is that they wouldn't assume those houses are top in CA just because they are top at Bama, especially since they wouldn't know tons of girls in CA who have gone thru rush before them.

New row pledges a lot of out of state for a reason, they want those houses and they don’t give a crap what some old lady in Alabama thinks. And they may not care what you think. Because a lot of new row houses are really strong in places other than Bama.

Let’s face it, do I want to pledge certain old row houses if I’m going home to Dallas after graduation. Maybe not. But I might prefer Pi Phi or Zeta or DG because they are good at Bama and they are also good back in Texas.

The is only a certain group that is wrapped up in the old row thing. \n\n\n\n\n

^So what makes a house in Dallas top? Probably the same things that make houses top here. Those houses are the most selective and PNMs in Dallas know it.

You are basically saying that PNMs who would be cut by top houses in TX come to Bama to pledge the same house here because it's easier.

The only people wrapped up in the OR thing are the people who obsess about it on this site. It doesn't change which houses are most selective, which is what the OP is about.

No PNM is going through rush saying, "I want Chi O because they are involved with philanthropy and campus. omg I'm soo inlove!" no no one says that. Not at all. GRADES don't make a house top. Looks and social standing does. The most top tier houses at Alabama, are the ones at the top of the social and looks hierarchy, not grades. Face it and accept it. Its life. Zeta is a top tier house at Alabama and I bet in 5 years it will be top 3. and no I'm not a Zeta, Im a DG.
