still sucks and is very discouraging that it happened. Alumnae need to realize that integration is going to happen. They're just trying to impede it for as long as possible. On another side, if and when integration were to happen, it would have to be an Old Row house that does it. Old Row is untouchable in regards to scandal, no matter what happens to them and no matter what is spread. The main reason why Gamma Phi didn't succeed over ten years ago was because they are New Row. Maybe there were other factors, but I think that might have been a very big reason.

It was not the AA PNM the alumni was concerned about. Is it possible they were concerned with the boys that she would invite to the house.

The year is 19 ____? I feel like I am in a major time warp on this thread. My NPC sorority has black members, top tier, southern school and no one is afraid including the alumnae!

"Those "less than desirable" white women allowed to pledge were just lucky that someone didn't write "do not pledge" recs for them!"

Reason enough for all do not pledge rec's to be banned. It's just a way to let petty women hurt other women. If the system can't screen out real problem PNM's, then it shouldn't be allowed to screen out perfectly good candidates because of rumors or petty grievances.

I could not agree more! Rush at Alabama is notoriously petty and brutal. For everyone! Alabama has one of the worst reputation when it comes to girls going after other girls during rush. Most of the time it's based on rumors and jealousy. It's very harsh and nasty. Girls threatening to leave school and some threatening suicide during rush. Councelors are on stand-by in all the dorms. It's insanity! You will not find a school that has a more cut throat rush than Bama. There were over 2,000 girls that rushed and hundreds were cut. Girls who were black balled for rumors, because an actives boyfriend liked them, doing something stupid in high school, being a little "too" popular, etc. There were lots of girls who were discriminated against and not just for race and sadly it's not going to change. Petty women hurting other women is a great way to put it!

Rush is very tough at Alabama. Lots of girls are cut! That's why bama has one of the best and strongest greek systems in the country. There's a reason for this.

in question was highly qualified, well connected, and apparently well enough liked to get extremely good votes according to sources in multiple houses that wanted her. It was about race, but it was out of the hands of the undergrads.

Lots of comments here by people who have absolutely no idea how sororities work.

People are so sensitive nowadays. Face it, some people are going to just be better off than others. That's the way it has been and the way it always will be. Maybe one or two blacks will get in sometime but who really cares.
