No one wants the bottom rank. They are not ranking themselves there. They are bottom ranked because they are NR and last to bulld a new house. PNMs made them pay for waiting to build. Will be better for them now.

Theta is a good house. Honestly, all our houses are great!

They have been bottom ranked by others because they have refused to join the Machine. Some Machine members make it a point to rank Theta bottom so all the other sororities will know there is a price for not belonging to their group.

Interestingly, Theta's bottom rank did not seem to matter to PNMs this year as they took a very good pledge class.

Sonce I've been here, Theta has been considered a friendly house and does seem to be gaining members who are looking for an 'authentic' or 'genuine' house. These labels seemed to be big this past recruitment and Theta seemed to benefit from those labels.

I am thinking Theta's bottom ranking actually contributed toward creating their 'genuine' membership, because superficial or status oriented women probably dropped the bottom house right away. Who would guess a bottom rank would be such a screening tool.

The other posters are right, the Machine and their old house put them at the bottom. But with their new house filled with 'genuine' members, Theta might have to start self-ranking to the bottom if they want to keep screening out the superficial.

It would be perfect karma If Machine bottom ranking really did contribute to Theta's genuine reputation that benefits them now.
