by: Seems to meA lot of great girls are getting cut. System seems flawed. Average girls seem to prevail. Pretty frustrated with rush this year.

when somebody complains about the system being flawed, they didn't get the ones they wanted.
Yes, it's flawed. It isn't perfect.
But after 60 or 75 years of recruitment, this is what it's been refined down to.
Maybe you have a better way, that will allow 16-17 sororities to choose PNMs fairly, and that will allow the 2,100 PNMs to get a look at all the groups, and come up with the best matches given the information and available time?
If you do have a better way, please get hold of NPC's officers and delegates and enlighten them!!

I think if you would look at the real numbers from last year you would realize that the system does work. Over 80% of the women who participated last year got their first choice. Very few, and no I don't know the figure off the top of my head, fell through and were not matched. Some of the ones who were dropped or withdrew did so because of grades.
PUT IT ON A BILLBOARD, if you do not have a 3.0 the odds of pledging are very small. Also regardless of what you hear, recommendations are important.
ANOTHER WORD OF ADVICE, Clean up your facebook, twitter, instagram or whatever social media you use. The girls look at those things and let me tell you, the things they see posted are unbelievable.
SO YES, I do think the system works.
#13by: my guess..
..is that everyone is getting tired and irritable at this point, so true colors are surfacing. I also think it would help in the future if the sororities would build each other up instead of this constant, "I'm better than you" competitive nature. A top, #1 Greek system would operate as a team, just like out football team. That is, everyone is important and everyone has a job and we work together. Don't know if that is even possible with young women this age. It isn't evident in this site anyway. That is my two cents worth. Oh, yes, entitlement is alive and well in our young society. Maybe think about how you can address the unimportance of that on the front end.

I know recruitment seems insane, but the system has been tried and tested, reviewed and refined, for a long time. It's designed to work -- yeah, there are flaws and it doesn't always work, but most of the time it does and PNMs get the chance to end up in a great place for them. Problem is that some of them think they should've ended up somewhere else and don't give the house that wants them a chance.
I know there were a lot of really bad cuts going into skit and many pnms were upset. Those with nice, full schedules were the exception. Most people had much fewer invites, so don't be freaked out. Sure, it hurts to lose houses you really love and think you connected with, so some drop. But good luck to those who have decided to stick things out and see this through. Go into pref with an open mind and heart and give a chance to these members who really see something in you. I hope your pref schedules are what you're wishing for, and that you find yourself happy and celebrating on Bid Day!

Decide if you want to be in a particular sorority, or just in a sorority. If you want a particular sorority, your rush experience will most likely be challenging, because the odds you are invited back to that particular one are low ( if you had statistics in HS, you’ll understand), and more often than not, you will be disappointed. If you just want to be in a sorority, you are more likely to be pleased by the invitations you get, because you have given yourself a larger group from which to choose. You are open minded and flexible. You go into rush, not paying attention to the stupid rankings and snarky and mean comments on GR, but looking for positive things to like about all the chapters. Of course, you will have favorites, but they become your favorites after you meet the sisters. And if a favorite doesn’t ask you back, you allow yourself to be sad for 5 minutes, and then you find another favorite from the ones that did ask you back. You keep telling yourself, “it only takes one”, because that’s the truth. At the end of the day, you can only accept one bid, so as long as you have invitations keep going, if you just want to ge Greek.
