honestly
by: PNMmy experience with rush has pretty much sucked. I have 3 houses left. One "top" tier house, a middle, and bottom. I was cut from all the houses I had recs for and the houses I thought I had a connection with. The houses I have left, I did not really connect with anyone. In fact, I thought I would have def been dropped by the top house because they were not even friendly to me. So surprised that I was cut by so many middle tier house because I thought they liked me and I had recs for most and have a 3.3. i went into today with 9 houses and now only 3. Just really confusing. I know this sounds rude, but I'm being honest, less attractive/more socially awkward girls ended up with more houses. I'm hearing this from a lot of girls. I'm really over this and wish it was over. I had been looking forward to rushing for so long, but it has been a let down. Very confused by the cuts and the ones that didn't cut me. Anyone else feel the same????

I'm sorry you're feeling this way. I'm an upperclassman in a sorority at bama and when I went through rush, I only had two houses back on skit day and i didn't really like them. However, I stuck through it and I now love, love, love my house. I didn't see myself in it during rush, but now I can't imagine being anywhere else! Don't take it personally about the houses you got cut from because there are all kinds of reasons why there was cuts. I hope you stick with rush and find a place that you love.

I have been surprised at some of the girls that are asked back to so many houses. Looks do not seem to be one of the qualities that many of the sororities are looking for and I thought it would play a much bigger role in some of the top house selections because I had been told by so many people that it would. Rush has been a very different experience than what I had been told it would be. I heard from so many people how cut throat Bama is but really they just seem to be looking for the average girl, that's not much of a party girl, with at least a 3.0. I was really nervous about what to wear and it seems that not too much emphasis is put on that either. There is a really pretty girl in my group, that is adorable with far fewer and no top level houses like I have. I feel pretty confident that I will get a decent house, but it has been a very different experience than I was expecting. I'm happy for that because I have a lot more hope of getting a top house than I did before I started rush.

that you are thinking this way! You should be thankful for the 3 you have! And what do you base your "top, middle, and bottom tier" info on? Seems like you came into this with pre-determined opinions based on what? Every stalker on this site has a different opinion on the rankings. All of the sororities are good here. You have only met a small number of the girls in each sorority. Believe me, you will find girls like you in each of them. Stay open minded, forget about a few people's abstract rankings (many rank over and over again), and see what happens.

Also, you don't know the history of many of the girls who were dropped. Maybe they have such strong legacy connections that the other sororities don't want to use a space for them when the PNM will more than likely pledge her legacy chapter.
Maybe the girl has a poor reputation. Maybe she mumbled single syllable responses to questions and didn't converse with her rusher.
No telling.

I am an out of state PNM. I got invited back by 5 old row 3 new row. I noticed that you mention "tiers". The only true seperation of sororities at Alabama that realistically can be made is new vs. old row. And that doesn't make one better than the other. It doesn't reflect the oldest (ADPi) or location. It now represents a group that has additional parties. There are houses that by laws don't allow them to be sponsored by alcohol. It doesn't necassarily mean they are or are not a strong sorority. Rather than complaining about tiers I would focus on which house you feel most comfortable. Even with 5 old row invites...I am leaning towards a new row house. With an old row in 2nd place. Possibly the reason you have been dropped is you focused too much on what "tier" houses were and that came off when meeting the girls in the houses. I would drop the tier attitude and really focus on the 3 outstanding UA sororities you have left!

Don't worry about tiers. I've seen on here lots of commentary about the bottom houses and how some new houses are in a higher tier, etc. I know girls in literally every house and there are girls of every kind. You will find close friends in any house, but you won't be close friends with every girl in any house. I agree that the only diff is old/new row. All the houses, top to bottom, mix well together and are friends. There's no social snobbery really that I've seen.

This is the best and so true. I was dropped by the two houses I thought I would like. I ended up in an amazing house and can not see myself in the two I thought would be a good fit. It's crazy but, I'm having the time of my life! Some how you end up in a good fit. I hope you stick with rush and end up with a place you love too.
