From the highest percentage to the lowest of girls in each pledge class that are not from the south. Notice the jump in percentage between 2011 and 2012. It really shows you that out of the south enrollment is increasing and things may start to shift real soon. Ill be posting the percentages from this year as well once they are published :)
#1by: Out of the south?
If they are from outside of the south, are they from up north, out west or Midwest like Kansas or something? It would be interesting to see the states that are not in the south, this would give a better idea of really how things might be shifting. Taking a girl from Arizona or Colorado is different than taking girls from New Jersey or Ohio. Also, while this of course doesn't apply to all girls from outside of Dixie, many girls from non-southern states have their roots here. I know a few girls from up north but their parents or grandparents were all originally from the south. Interesting numbers though, thanks for posting.

I posted the original thread. The "out of the south" girls are all from:
Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Michigan, California, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Colorado, North Dakota, Delaware, Maryland, Oregon, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, oklahoma, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, and Wash DC. The south was counted as Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, both Carolina's, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, and Florida. Most "out of the south" pnms come from Illinois, California, NY, NJ, Indiana, and Pennsylvania. Also included in the "out of the south" numbers were the girls from Norway and Saudi Arabia who pledged phi Mu and the girl from Canada who pledged ZTA.
#5by: Saudi Arabia?
That's really interesting. Women is Saudi Arabia must cover their hair and face and are not even allowed to drive. I assume she was born there and is now a US citizen and not an international student or something. Well good for her for embracing her new country and for not trying to carry on that outdated, middle eastern lifestyle.

I don't want to take over Alabama seat's thread, but when I did these same numbers, out of the south meant all other states (other than the ones I mentioned I included as being in the south). Thus, there may be just a couple from Utah and new Mexico, and several from Colorado and Ohio, and lots from California and Maryland. maybe she has that broken down. I didn't break it down that far.
