how superficial is recruitment

A lot of people have told me recruitment is based entirely on looks or other superficial factors. Is any of this true and how much if so?

It kind of depends. If you’re concerned about looks, there are a few sororities that definitely go for a certain look in their pledge classes but this is not true for everyone. You’ll be able to find plenty of people who respect more than just looks
