rushing as a sophomore
by: 🐘💗This might have already been covered but I’m rushing as a sophomore at Alabama and I don’t really understand the quotas and who uses them. I’ve heard that rushing as a sophomore limits your options. To what extent is this true?

There is a separate quota for upperclassmen so you will not be competing with freshmen in that quota. Every house will have the same quota number, which is the maximum number of bids they can offer. The two quotas are determined after prefs when the pnm's sign their cards. There is also something called Quota Plus which ensures that every pnm who ranks each of her pref houses, and doesn't suicide, will get a bid even when it puts a house over the quota limit. If you go to pref and put both houses on your card, or just the one if that's all you have, you will get a bid. Since a sophomore has been here for a year already, her rush experience is influenced by who she has met in chapters and if she has made a favorable impression so those members will promote her for membership, also her college GPA and her involvement in campus.

I know they suspended the upperclassman quota last year for SK and have yet to hear if they are bringing it back
