Hi! I'm Rushing and from out of state with a GPA of 2.99. My high school was a very competive private school with a completely different grading scale. Will I be dropped?

What do you mean by different grading scale? Like, was it a 2.99 out of 3? Or 2.99 out of 5? Please elaborate. If your gpa is not on the standard 4.0 grading scale, the school automatically recalculates the gpa to be that of a 4.0 scale.

Some will, because their threshold is higher than 3.0...even as high as 3.5. That's what recs are for...so the sorority alumnae can point out that you went to an academically challenging school.

it doesn't seem to matter to the sororities what school you went to. You could have gone to an elite private school and have a 2.99 with 24 credits and with academically challenging classes and a bid could go to the girl from a public school who has a 3.5 and 16 hours credit, They look at the gpa and don't seem to take anything else in to consideration. However, last year some sororities took record numbers of girls for various reasons so hopefully you will find a good fit for you.
