do instagram followers effect which house you rush??

Most houses it won’t unless you come across as a total weirdo on your social media, Realistically yes Zeta will probably cut you because Instagram is everything to them, and maybe Alpha Phi depending on how rush goes for them this year. That being said, most other houses know there’s a lot more to a PNM and that’s not the biggest determining factor of quality. As long as you can hold a conversation and don’t seem super creepy, you will be fine!!
PNMs: Do NOT tell a house on IWTs that you want that house more than anything, especially if you don’t know anyone there. It looks so desperate and while we’re glad you like our chapter, it comes off crazy. Wait until pref to go all emotional on us, leave it at you’re excited to be there/be back until then.

There’s NO reason to be passionate about a house before at least you go to their philanthropy round, unless you’re a big legacy or have a ton of friends in the house and in that case we already know. So if you walk in first round gushing about the chapter but don’t have any connections it’s def a little weird and will not help get you an invite back

Why do you keep stating your opinion as though it’s a fact? That doesn’t change my original message. I think that it’s petty to diss a girl because you think she’s too passionate, and I think it’s immature for you to call a PNM “crazy” or “weird” because of the aforementioned trait.
And I can see freshmen being really excited about ANY house at Bama. All of our houses are great with amazing girls, and during recruitment, we make PNMs feel adored and wanted. OF COURSE, some girls are going to be woo’d by that. Of course, some girls are going to think “wow that’s my house!” Remember, they’re fresh out of high school and are excited about college and Greek life. Give them a break.

...I’m not the same poster as @truth. Their original statement was “don’t tell a house on IWT that you want that house more than anything,” which I agree with. I don’t think it’s “crazy,” I just don’t think you have a reason to be that outwardly excited until you experience more than ~12 minutes and 3 super vapid convos in a house. Until then you’ve gotta be basing everything off of reputation or social media. Sorry to disagree.

I had a girl be flat out CREEPY about my house IWT. We had no idea who she was and she started throwing out all these facts about our chapter history, then proceeded to tell me about members she followed on Instagram. I’m sorry but that’s straight up weird. I’m not saying hey I’m really excited to learn more about your house or meet some of y’all is a bad thing. But sorority recruitment is largely superficial let’s be real and I’m not even in a looks house. It also can come across as you’re expecting a bid because you “love” it so much and already think you’re a part of it. Like, it’s up to us too if you end up here. Nobody wants a standoffish mean girl but take some basic social cues.

That is a very extreme example. I think “No” is saying that some girls like houses a lot at first glance, and that it’s not fair to count them out just because you think they’re thirsty. I don’t think they mean girls that act like what you described. I don’t know anyone that would act like that tbh. That’s just really extreme and is not the same.
Anyways to the OP. No it doesn’t matter.

It’s really sad that being passionate about a house is considered “desperate” and “crazy.” That’s basic level thinking appropriate for egoistic high school girls but not college educated young adults. And honestly, being excited about a house is ten times better than being stuck-up and standoffish for shallow reasons. Grow up, ladies.
