sororities with national prominence

This is a good snapshot of the prominence of sororities around the country. It's a listing of the greeks that so far have won state titles for Miss America. As you can see, some of the least favored sororities at UA have beauties in other chapters.
KAO -- 3
DDD -- 3
GPB -- 2
ADPi -- 2
ZTA, AZD, AEP, DZ, AXO, and DG -- 1 each
All the rest -- 0

In fact, Theta and Gamma Phi would be great houses anywhere else. It's just that here they have reputations for taking less highly recruited girls. That's not too bad, though. Considering they're good other places.

The problem is that they're seen as being bottom tier sororities. I see things looking a little better for Gamma Phi, but nothing spectacular. Theta is so good in Texas but terrible here.

Like everything else in our greek system, we seem to be turned around with houses that are lower tier everywhere else on the top and ones that are dogs here are everybody else's darlings.

I agree. In my home state Alpha Gam, Phi Mu, and AXO are the lowest houses and rarely make quota. I must say it influenced the way I looked at them here even though I could tell it wasn't the same situation.

the stupidest thing I've ever read. Pagents are won by girls that are stuck in that system.
They do pagent after pagent...that's all they do. Tons of caked on make up and over-sprayed hair. Maybe 50 years ago, but pagents do not equal beauty anymore - they equal psycho parents putting their children in skimpy outfits and a bunch a wannabes

You seem to be very uninformed about which girls are highly recruited. Girls in the pageant system are very desired by every house because it brings glory to the house (everyone knows that Miss Alabama is a Zeta and Miss Alabama USA is an AOII). You maybe went to college during the hippie years and don't know. So get off this board and stop offering your insight from grandma's time!

I'm in a top house and we always always recruit pageant girls! They're good looking, well spoken, self-disciplined, talented, and can handle a full schedule. Also, some of the sweetest people ever. The makeup is only for the camera. They're naturally beautiful and very well put together.

We do not recruit toddlers and tiaras pageant girls however. They are a little young. By the way, how do psycho parents put their children into skimpy outfits and "a bunch of wannabes"?????? I'm a little confused by the logistics of that! Not to mention the gruesomeness...
