the machine

All of them except for Theta (and props to Theta for doing their own thing).
But, certain houses have more power than others. You can tell which ones have more power by looking at which ones have the most girls in SGA positions, honor societies, etc on campus. So just because your house in a member of the machine doesn't mean your house has any power.

Although sororities are members and some are more powerful than others, the machine is much more of a male run than female run. Theta is a woman focused house with a mission to support their members in their college and career pursuits, they will not join a male run voting block. Actually surprised more houses fo not follow suit.

If you look up the website "Bitter Southerner" (a terrific site) and look for the article titled "A Shifting Tide," you will find a thorough and riveting article on the machine, its history, and the most recent upset to its monopoly over UA politics. I've read a lot about the machine, but this article is the best in my opinion. It also talks about the sororities' role in the machine. I highly recommend this article to anyone enrolling at BAMA. (Sorry I can't put link here according to greek rank rules.)
