I’m OOS but I hear a lot about summer camps that a lot of sorority girls go to/ are counselors at. What are they?

Speaking as someone from TX this post seems like it was meant for the UT Austin board. The answer would be Waldemar, Longhorn, and Mystic. If you go Big 3 at Austin there's probably very few girls you haven't met or heard of before between summer camp, church, and school.

Old Row at UA can be insular but it's not nearly that insular compared to my friends at UT's experience.

For in-state girls, a lot of girls went to Camp Skyline, Camp Mac, and Camp Greystone.

For east coast girls greystone is definitely major, up there with ilahee merri-woode and merri-mac. I would say there are no major camps in Alabama though. I have been to a few for retreats and they are definirely more comparable to ymca camp.

That said not a lot of Alabama girls besides MB go out of state for camp so being at a big NC or TX camp won’t get you much here

I went to a camp last summer but it wasn’t the same kind of sleep in a cabin, ride horses and shoot camp, it was more of a debate/leadership/Congressional program camp. There I met some girls from MB, Atlanta, and Nashville who will be PNMs with me as freshmen in August. I’m from the North. We all occasionally chat in our GroupMe but I haven’t talked to them much one on one. Should I talk to them more and hope that that will improve my “connections?” There’s no bad blood between us at all, it’s just there were hundreds of us so it was hard to get close.

If they're top PNMs who already have in-house connections then they might be able to introduce them to their friends. I would encourage you to reach out to them anyways, at this point it can only help you, not hurt.

"No contact" means almost nothing unless you're super stupid about it like Zeta and get caught doing it. There's always a ton of friend, alum, church, camp friends talking to each other during the Summertime. If this PNM is looking to get connected, I doubt she's going to rat on anyone who talks to her after May 1.

IDK why people bump 5 year old posts, but I'll bite. Knowing other pnm's is not in any way 'connections' and won't do a thing for you in recruitment. Actives who know you, or know of you through close relationships, are 'connections' and are the ones who could speak for you at their house during rush. No one cares what other pnm's you know; even if you are best friends with a house's top pnm no one cares.
