the future of alpha phi
by: Uh ohConsidering that UA has been working towards more diversity in greek life and it isn't alpha phi's first incident, what do you think their punishment will be?

APhi, as a group, did nothing wrong, therefore they should not receive punishment as a group. They have kicked out the individual without any hesitation and that's what they needed to do. It is now necessary to hear the chapter and national office condemn this individual's actions. (We are waiting for that, APhi...) Remember that you never hear anyone calling to suspend or end a college football program because of things players do, and they get away with a lot, maybe miss a game or two, but hardly ever kicked off the team or out of school. Why should consequences be harsher for Greek organizations?

This seems nice in theory but houses are put on probation all the time for the actions of one member, mostly for alcohol. My house was put on probation by the university for something really tiny that didn’t even affect the university like this has, so it will be interesting to see what happens. It might be different if it was alpha phi’s first offense but it’s not.

Incorrect facts, troll. Hundreds of girls do not leave recruitment each year without a bid. UA has a 93% placement rate, one of the highest in the country. You would know that if you were not a Greek-bashing, non-UA, troll from the outside looking in.

XO put the n word in a snapchat post and made all kinds of stupid excuses and then did the same thing when they got off probo in the Spring. Now they're considered a top 3 or 4 sorority here. The double standard is astounding.

While both events are absolutely disgusting and should've never happened, I think it's important to understand that APhi unfortunately does not have the typically clean reputation like Chi O. APhi is known for drinking, excessive partying, and horrible grades much of the time (not to say that all members are like that...) and Chi O is known for getting girls who keep things cleaner, make better grades, and carry themselves in a lot classier of a manner (once again not saying all members are like this...), which is why I think APhi is taking more of a blow than Chi O did. It is just another weight placed on the crumbling APhi rep.... it is sad for the members who are nice, well rounded girls, but they have some serious damage control to do because of their already rocky reputation...

if you look at the chi O snapchat what they did wasn't as bad as what A Phi. Was that snapchat absolutely stupid, yes. But the Alpha Phi said the N word with a hard r like ten times while other Alpha Phis were clapping her up. Also the Chi O thing was prior to the Panhellenic integration when there was little to no black women in panhellinic sororities. UA now is actively encouraging black women to go through recruitment and now Alpha Phi has set us back. There is probably black women who won't rush anymore because of this because they have to wonder if their new sisters will hate them behind their backs. Alpha Phi embarrassed the entire greek community and they honestly deserve whatever punishment that they receive.

it would be nice if aphi and their nationals could issue a more substantive statement. that tweet neither apologizes for the incident nor details how they will correct and prevent it from happening again.
how long are they going to wait until they say something? or is aphi's strategy to just dust it under the rug until we all forget about it?

As someone who rushed a “bottom house”, I was aware of aphis scandals before I rushed and didn’t go aphi solely for that reason. I encourage every other member who wants to be respected to do the same. Y’all are pulling at straws trying to defend a sorority the repeatedly shows what kind of environment they provide.

Aw good for you, I’m sure this is completely true 👏 why can’t you leave these 17/18 year old girls alone? If they feel they fit in and want to join a “looks” house and be more focused on partying and boys, who gives af. That’s why we have a choice to join and I say this for every house. Stop telling girls OOR to not go old row if they want to or whatever the case. You’re in a “bottom” house and on Greekrank, which tells us all we need to know why you ended up bottom. Maybe think about what’s more wrong with you and get a life.
