by: RTRSince so many people seem to think this is just a safety school for people outside of Alabama.... how many of y’all turned down “higher-ranked”/harder to get into schools for Bama? Which ones?

Berkeley is an absolute grunge hole. Unless you’re going for an engineering degree, going to any other school with a better life balance and less caustic environment is never a bad choice. Plus, most of the UC’s turn into 5 year programs because you can’t get into classes. I easily got into top grad schools for my program with my 3.9 GPA from Alabama. I despise driving through Berkeley to use a gas station bathroom when I go to Napa. Going to school there? Nah.
