tutwiler or honors dorm?

by: housing

I'm trying to decide my dorm for next year, and I'm between Tut and the Honors dorm. Is it important to live in Tut if I'm rushing? Is it more fun or exciting? I've heard the Honors dorm is nicer and more updated, but will I miss out if I'm not in Tut?

I completely disagree. Tut is the way to go. You will be closer to your house and sisters. It’s so easy to go into a suite style dorm and shut the door and be isolated from everyone... if you are a sorority girl you live in tut that’s just the way it is. Almost all old row is in tut

Whether you live in tut or not has no effect on how your rush goes. I lived in tut and loved it. It's not nice by any means but I met so many people and it is SO convenient. You have the rest of college to have your own room in a house, apartment, etc. It's really about the experience. If I could go back I would still have chose tut

Tut is a seriously unique experience. Like the poster said above, you have the rest of your college career to live somewhere nicer. Use your freshman year to take advantage of every opportunity to make friends and socialize.

Tut. No question. But very Greek centric.

i’ve been in tut and i live in pres and i’d rather die than live in tut it’s so disgusting and can cause a lot of issues if you’re not besties with tourneys roommate since there’s nowhere to go. Lots of girls live in honors dorms and live in pres too, it gives you privacy and a place to do your own thing. Id take a decent place to live over “a unique experience”

i live in pres 2 and actually regret not living in tut because you're so much closer to the house and most girls in your pledge class (esp if you go old row). only downsides are basically no provacy, can't bring guys back, shared bathrooms, space, MOLD, and can't walk back from lakeside in 5 minutes the morning after a swap lol

All I have to say is girls actually want to transfer to tut after semester. It is so convenient whether you need to eat or get study hours at your sorority house or pre game behind tut. Personally the only upside to suites is the bathroom and personal room. The people who rave that tut is disgusting have never lived there lol seriously I highly recommend tut if you are rushing

I don't know anyone who wants to transfer to tut after a semester.

Tut is ONLY fun for your first semester at the most. You feel super connected during your new member period and you think it's awesome to be so close to the house.

Then you come back from winter break and realize that you want your own space, you want to be able to fall asleep without hearing people shouting in the hallway, you want to bring a boy home, you want to use the bathroom without avoiding mold, you want to have an itty bitty bit of privacy.

I lived in Tut and the experience was fun but the experience wears off quickly. If you are at ALL introverted then go for the honors dorm. My mental health second semester would have been so much better if I could have taken a break from all the social interaction & Tut just doesn't allow for that.

I lived in Ridgecrest East and always really regretted it. Privacy is nice but I missed out on the part of the college experience I would’ve had in Tut.

I did not live in tut and SO wish I did! I chose to live in a suite style dorm and would have rather sucked it up and lived in tut. I am in a house right next to tut and it would have made eating at the house much easier as well as meeting all of my sisters! most of my sisters that live in tut are already so close while the ones that live in suite style dorms across campus are not really as close with them. just make sure that you have a roommate who is not completely crazy and that you will hate!
