i googled it and by reading the description, i immediately thought of a ''quinceanera''. only with a different fancy name lmaooooo

it's much more organized than a quinceanera and happens later in life, but i guess the concept is not dissimilar (entering adult society/no longer being a girl/etc.) it's definitely more of a status symbol though, because anyone can throw a quinceanera of some kind but not just anyone can be a deb.

You probably won't even know they are in your house unless you know them well. Lots of debs. Traditional south.

Friend in ZTA talked about being a deb

Looked it up.
Big deal in her area. Northern OOS.
Secretive selection process.
Big donations to Children's Hospital. Family history of donations. 500 people black tie.
White dress Pearls. White gloves.

Pics online in society page of local paper.

Not just a southern thing.

By: Haha

No one from the South said that Debs weren't a big deal in the North. Someone did say that the North's Debs were so much better.

Debutants are everywhere. I mean, they got their start in Europe.

So you know about philadelphia's charity ball I see! At least you understand the socialite circuit in the northeast.

The rest of you sound so silly! To think you don't understand Philadelphia's old wealth! You know nothing if you think Philadelphia is comparable to towns In the south! Philadelphia has some of the most wealthy folks in the country but even more important, is that it's old money!

A DG came out last year at Las Madrinas, the oldest, most exclusive ball in LA. They used to ban the daughters of "movie people."

"Secretive selection process"
Not secret at all. Mama and Daddy give megabucks to whatever organiztion is sponsoring the debs - a ballet, symphony orchestra, society to aid half-toed newts, doesn't matter.
It's all about the money.

In Birmingham, Mountain Brook debs (Ball of Roses, Beaux Arts Krewe Ball, Heritage Ball, Redstone Ball) are usually in KD, Kappa, DDD, Alpha Gam, and XO.

The Poinsettia Ball (some MB but mostly Vestavia and Hoover) has lots of New Row and Old Row representation.

Does B'ham still have the Spinsters? I always thought that was a hilarious name for fresh virgins offered for marriage.

^ Spinsters is a Mardi Gras society in Mobile that girls are invited to join when they make their debut

Debs invite their friends to the festivities. A few years ago, one deb had her entire pledge class to her ball in New Orleans. If you are lucky enough you might be included in a deb's festivities too. They are some of the best parties and events you will ever attend, short of your own wedding, and a lot of fun.

This OP confuses me. You must be asking about the Fort Wayne Debs, who are bottom dwellers in the All-American Girls league. You should be focusing on the most important thing right now, which is where are the Belles. Glad you asked. The Racine Belles are starting Panehel work week at a secret location just outside of Cottondale, Alabama. We have selected this location because it allows us to keep an eye on our rivals, the Springfield Sallies, who are also conducting their own shadow recruitment. If you are tired and weary of traditional sorority rush at Alabama, give us a chance. We will be hosting Malted Milkshake After-Parties each night of recruitment and at any time you feel unsure or lonely, know that we are there for you.

Have a Blessed Day, Y'all.
