We all know about PKT in Texas. How does that translate to recruitment at Alabama? Do PKT get the top Texas pnms because of PKT stuff back home, or do you not really see it happening like that?

Are you asking if PKT here at Alabama has a lot of Texas girls or are you asking where girls who would normally go PKT at Texas go here?
If the former question, I'd say that there are a lot of Texas girls in those 3 sororities, but of those, only Kappa would have PKT at Texas quality girls.
For the second one, in my experience, the big city debutantes from Highland Park/Memorial/Westlake, etc who would normally be in PKT but came here because they didn't have grades to get into UT overwhelmingly go to Kappa. Of those girls, some spillover into Phi Mu if they're more into looks and grades and DDD if they're a legacy or if they're more chill and sporty. The Woodlands, Katy, and other suburbs are more Zeta-like.
I'm from Texas myself, and of the girls from my hometown, the order of desirability in general was: Kappa >>> DDD/PM > AXO/XO > Pi Phi > Zeta > KD/AGD > ADPi > DG/Theta > Everyone else

Interesting. I would think that PKT-type PNMs might want KD more. Why don't you think they do?

KD isn't that good in Texas -- the chapters at UT and A&M are considered near the bottom.

KD is horrible all over a Texas. Lots of closed chapters and the ones left are bottom tier.

I get that KD isn't good in Texas. I guess I just feel like a PKT girl would like the vibe of KD here at Alabama. Do girls really care that much about the status of a chapter at a school they don't go to?

To the poster that thinks Bama KD is like PKT in Texas -- not really. You just need to go through recruitment and you will see. Bama KD is not what it used to be and get a lot of pnms that have some status in some way, but nothing like PKT.

Also: TX cares a lot about history. PKT are the oldest at Texas and thus the best. KD is the oldest at Alabama and thus many of the judgemental Highland Park-types are going to prefer their daughters joined the oldest sorority at UA rather than Pi Phi (post-WW2) or Theta (late 1960s.) Even the "oldest" chapters at UT have been there on/off since the Great Depression.

UT has a very strong greek system and greek life is big at all the big Texas schools. There is PKT, which refers to PBP, KKG and KAT. These are generally considered the top three houses. There is also the Big Six, which takes PKT and then adds ZTA, DDD and XO. All of these houses have active alum chapters across Texas and are a thing.
I think we have seen some pattern where the Bama houses that are Big 6 tend to do a little better with good Texas PNMs than some other houses. Like PBP normally would not cross rush with KD, but if we are talking about a Dallas pnm that is sought after and she goes to pref with say PBP, KD and KAT (because she just could not ever put them last because they are, after all, part of PKT) -- almost every time she will put PBP first because PBP is top of new row at Bama (so respectable in TX) and also is Big Six/PKT in TX.
So I think it matters a little but only at the very end.

Hey y'all, so I'm from a Houston private school so hopefully I can put some things straight. First, let me say that I don't know why someone would want to post about PKT on Alabama's page, because they aren't equivalent to Old Row here at all other than more of an emphasis on tradition. At PKT, it is ALL about connections (meaning money). Meaning if you are not from the right areas, you will be cut. Doesn't matter your grades. Doesn't matter how hot you are. Doesn't matter if you are rich but OOS. Old Row here, even Kappa and KD, put lots of importance in grades, looks, and total package. You'll see small town girls in KD and unconnected OOS in PM/AXO, maybe Kappa as long as they have money, looks, and grades. PKT is stupid insular and it's basically an exclusive country club in the middle of campus. It's not really something that we should strive to compare ourselves to really.
With that being said, I think the #5 poster hit the nail on the head. KD is not that sought after by the true society types because all of those girls go Kappa first, then DDD and XO. Texas girls usually do care about name brand recognition back home and also about good grades, which those 3 sororities have. Not to mention those 3 have tons of legacies. KD is almost nonexistent unless they're Louisiana transplants. You might see a few oil girls from Beaumont or Midland join KD, but they're not really PKT quality.

Yep, I guess I do see a lot of Texas girls in PM. I see them in Zeta a fair amount too. Honestly, though, I see them everywhere but maybe just a little more in PM and Zeta. PM might be more Dallas and Zeta may be more Houston/Woodlands. The thing about most Texas girls is that they have strong social game and know how to put themselves together. They usually do not fear a little makeup and know how to dress for game days.
