The best option is to wait until you come down to buy a fake. People will start asking in groupmes if any wants to start making a group of those who want to buy fakes, because it's cheaper if you buy in larger quantities. If you don't care about saving money though, then you can order one right now. The reason why I think it's better to buy a fake yourself is because bouncers and cashiers can be pretty strict, not all the time, but they can be. Also, none of the actives in my sorority really gave out old fakes to the new members. It may just be my house, but most actives are still underage so they keep their fakes for themselves... Or if they did give them away, the age was too old and was a dead give away. Also, if you're planning on buying alcohol yourself, you're going to want to have your own fake because it's obviously so much easier to see the differences in faces in broad daylight than it is at midnight outside of a bar.
However, you don't need to get a fake right away... You're not even allowed in bars until you're initiated which takes a few weeks/months depending on your house. And you can easily get someone to buy you alcohol during the time.

In AL it is actually a felony technically to use someones real id as your own. If you have a fake with your picture and name its a misdemeanor. Both will probably get you a slap on the wrist (ticket) or thrown away if you get caught with it by the police (which usually only happens if you're stupid and breaking other laws with it on you).
My rule is, if you're doing something illegal, only do one thing illegal at a time.

If you get caught with someone's real ID, you are in deep trouble. Get a completely fake one.

Ask your friends, you may not know it but a lot of them probably currently have fakes. Ask where they got theirs from, or if you're in any alabama groupmes you should ask for suggestions in there. I can't remember the site I got mine off of but ID God is a popular website however I heard they were in some legal trouble and/or their IDs stopped scanning... Idk but just ask around with friends.

Also you should avoid Illinois, Florida, and Alabama specifically for states for your fake... As well as very obscure states, like Maine, Oregon, Washington, Utah, etc. A lot of people usually get New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, The Carolinas because they tend to look the most authentic.

Not trying to be a downer, but I got an MIP and it cost my parents a ton of money in attorney fees to get me cleared. I was a lucky one and it is off my record and I just did community service. I also had a fake which was just confiscated, again because my parents paid for a really good attorney.
But for the record this is the law.... in Alabama, altering a driver's license or other government-issued ID, or manufacturing fake IDs is a felony forgery charge.
Just possessing an altered or forged driver's license is a misdemeanor.
Using a legal ID that belongs to another person can be considered a class B felony in Alabama. Also, you can be charged with impersonation and theft if the person's ID you are using doesn't admit to giving it to you.
Being convicted of a felony is a life-altering event. A felony conviction can carry anywhere between one to 99 years in prison. The social implications of being a convicted felon will make it difficult to obtain employment or housing. You will also lose your right to vote.
Remember too, laws vary from state to state. Since Florida has upped the MIP punishment and convictions, other Southern states are following suit.
Be careful, carrying or using a fake is usually not worth it! Just drink in a secure house or apartment.

It is definitely supposed to be a felony charge, but if you have a good attorney or you're a cute white girl our criminal justice system is going to give you an easier time.
Still - I've never thought it's worth it. It's gonna show up on a background check and it will basically bar you from ever taking a job within the federal government. Maybe you'll get lucky but maybe you won't, and if you get the short end of the stick the consequences can be MASSIVE.

I did not have a fake my first year and I was still able to hang out with my friends. I had friends who were over 21, and friends that had fakes so I was able to get alcohol when I wanted. However, I am buying a fake for this year, so I can go to bars and such with my friends, as well as buy my little stuff if she wants it

I was the same, I drink a lot but I just wasn't comfortable having a fake. I was totally fine, most houses don't let you go to bars as a pledge anyway and even after you're initiated there are plenty of girls who would prefer to explore the non-bar scene instead. There will def be times when a group of girls decides to go to a bar and you'll have to politely decline but it's not like you'll sit around at home instead.

what are you talking about. if you go any literally any fake id website, they show the real prices and the prices always go down when you buy in bulk. expect to pay upwards to 100$ if you buy just by yourself... i know that i was in a group of like 20 people and we all only paid like 40$ each. if someone in the group is charging extra then thats not right and that even isn't something that usually happens.
