oldest of old row

by:

I keep seeing posts saying the "oldest of old row houses". Which houses are these? And why does this matter? Is it just the more southern Old Row houses?

I think they really meant to say First Circle. Those houses are AGD, DDD, and KD. I know of a PNM with Alabama legacy to AXO that went AGD. It happens and girls go where they feel most comfortable and where their friends are going, too. Not a house shattering shocker and with pledge classes as large as they are and filled with such great girls, it's really not as big of a deal as people are making it to be. I think it upsets the mama's more (at first) that their baby girls aren't wearing their houses letters for gameday pics.

I'm just going to say this -
Some of y'all are putting way too much thought into the labels and status of every single house. I know the OP didn't mean for it to come off as this, but some of y'all PNMs on here need to chill about the labels. As many other posts on this site have said, Old Row status means nothing. It held a slight prestige when your grandmother went here, but now it's just a label to describe a group of sororities. Get off this site and go practice how to have a good conversation.

Funny thing is First Circle likes to brag about it, but those three houses are actually the lowest ranked of Old Row. So it really means absolutely nothing to be first Circle.

By: Still on first lol

It's still a part of history here. It means nothing to you because since you aren't a part of it.

The ones who take First Circle seriously would have you believe it's as elite as PKT at Texas.

Old row isn't exactly based on first to have houses at Bama

ZTA was founded at Bama before some houses that are old row, but is considered "new row".

This has been explained to you ladies a million times. The phrase Old Row relates to the 6 original University Blvd fraternities. Those six were known as "Old Row" before they built the Jefferson houses. Those six picked six sororities to join them in their group so they picked their six favorite. It has nothing to do with when the sororities came to campus.

Hang on there junior. Old row (at least in the 1980s) was the fraternities remaining on university blvd after some moved to "new row". So technically, some older fraternities at UA that used to be on university blvd moved to Jefferson avenue (new row). If you notice some of "old row" is down that way too. KA and SAE. Phi Delt moved down there after stadium expansion. Believe it or not but the front of the stadium - walk of champions, statues, etc used to be fraternity houses. So next time you're on campus - go to the UA library and pull out some old corollas (yearbooks) and take a look.
