national stereotypes (accurate)

Nationally, Tri Delta is generally on the top, followed by Zeta and DG.
KD, Theta, and ADPi are a hit or miss.
I've never heard of an AOII chapter NOT being the worst.
Disagree? Any other generalizations that you find to be true?

You can honestly get a rough national rank by looking at when each org joined the NPC, with some exceptions.
1902: Pi Phi, DDD, Alpha Phi, DG, Kappa, Gamma Phi, Theta (these 7, except with XO substituted for GPhi, are known as the "seven sisters" and are the nationally strongest/most prestigious organizations. some have areas where they are stronger - DG/Aphi in the west, DDD/XO in the south - but overall they're very strong national houses).
1903: AXO, XO
1904: AxiD (this is a bit of an exception; they're not strong nationally)
1905: Sigma Kappa, AOII (also somewhat exceptions)
1906: Zeta, AGD, ADPi
1910: DZ
1911: Phi Mu
1912: KD
a
1951(!!): Tri Sigma, AST, ASA, DPhiE, AEPhi, Phi Sig, SDT, Theta Phi
So basically you have:
TOP (seven sisters): Theta, Kappa, DDD, Aphi, DG, Pi Phi, XO
UPPER MID: Zeta, GPhi, ADPi, AGD, AXO (could argue for AGD & AXO down)
LOWER MID: AOII, AxiD, DZ, Phi Mu, KD (could argue for KD up)
UPPER BOTTOM: Tri Sigma, Phi Sig, AEPhi, DPhiE
BOTTOM: AST, ASA, SDT, Theta Phi

Just to show how Alabama bears little resemblance to national strength, the top national sororities are generally considered to be Kappa, Pi Phi, Chi O, DG, and Tri-Delt.
The next national tier is Zeta, Theta, Gamma Phi and Alpha Phi. Probably AXO and KD, too.
Then there is a BIG national gap to the middle tier sororities.
The top tier national sororities include chapters that are considered top, upper-mid, mid, and lower-mid/bottom at Bama, while some of Bama's top and upper-mids are nowhere near the top nationally.
My advice - pledge the house you feel the biggest and best connection to, and look around at Pref Night at the other PNM's lined up outside the houses with you as they could be your pledge class. The ranking - here or nationally - really is not as important as joining a house you want to be a part of during college.

There is not a "national reputation" and the seven sister thing is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of.
The most widely recognized sororities are the ones that formed the panhellenic association. So if you want a list, that's it.
Pi Phi, Theta, Kappa, Alpha Phi, Gamma Phi, Tri Delta, DG

I'm not talking about a national survey, I'm talking about my experience traveling and talking to other Panhellenic women and sisters. At most larger schools I've seen them in the top 3. This is obviously subjective but still in my experienc very true.
