There's no fall sorority rush and if you haven't heard about a snap bid yet you probably won't get one. Try again next spring :/

I'm seriously not trying to be rude but you probably shouldn't have been so stuck up and dropped when you got cut from houses you thought you belonged in. Next year when you rush as a sophomore it will be hard bc many houses are much harder on soph rushes and you have to be AMAZING to be in the house. Good luck!

You and all of the other girls who dropped this year really shouldn't have done that. You can't have a closed mind when it comes to rush, you might not have ended up where you thought you would but most girls end up loving their house and having an awesome time even if it wasn't their first choice. Girls who want to be in a sorority but dropped rush will struggle. Rushing as a sophomore is a lot more competitive and more houses will cut you. Good luck.

I'm not the OP, but I also dropped out and feel the same way. I really would love to join a sorority, but I knew when dropping out that i wouldn't have a chance as a sophomore. and before every jumps down my throat I went to pref round with solidly middle tier houses (tridelt, SDT, AXiD) but really didn't feel like I'd be happy there. I had my heart set on AChiO or KD after skits, but got cut from both.

As said above, I'd contact people you might know in the houses you're interested in because they might do snap bids of COB (continuous open bidding) as we call it very soon. Also, I would consider the houses you had at pref as well- my top two were your top two, and I got cut from them. I ended up going with a house where the girls I talked to I didn't like too too much. Don't rule anything out! It'll work out!

75 percent of Cornell women never join a sorority--the vast majority because they are philosophically opposed to the whole process. Total strangers judging you on your looks and a few minutes of superficial conversation (what's your favorite tv show? Who is your favorite designer? What's your major?) If I had had more maturity and backbone I would have resisted the whole process. Now I'm pretty much stuck posing for inane photos to highlight us as baby dolls. you will make great friends outside of the Greeks. Stop moping and go meet people!

Sounds like you picked the wrong house

You discussed all those topics in 10 minutes bursts? Sure. Explain to me though the silly photos staged to make us look like cute and perky little girls. They are ubiquitous. What's up with that?

But the point that got lost when you took it personally is the writer will meet fantastic people outside of the Greeks. She should stop moping and lamenting and just go out and have fun!

In the fall they have informal rush but be aware that unless you made it to the last day of a particular sororitiy you have little chance of getting in there on your second attempt. Yes, you could befriend lots of those sorority girls over the course of this semester but they don't forget that they cut you in the beginning rounds and usually don't give you a chance.

I would encourage you to join one of the sororities that really wanted you. Maybe you will be surprised that you like a few of the girls. You don't even know who their new pledge class is. If you give it s chance and still don't like it then you have the option to drop out.

I was left with only 1 house on skit day and it was the 1 house I didn't like from the beginning. I would have been fine with any house but that one house because a few of the girls had been rude to me on another occasion. I dropped but I was wondering which houses do informal recruitment and how that process works

They don't announce that til closer to fall. Usually the process begins the first weekend back. The website usually lists who is doing fall recruitment or you can contact the office yourself and they will gladly provide you the info. Did one of you friends have a house that she got far with but then dropped out that might interest you more?

They usually have an event to go to ( very casual at their house) and then they cut some girls and ask other girls back. Then usually one more round of cuts. Sometimes if they are really considering you they take you out to lunch with a few sisters to have s more in depth talk. It can be a bit of a nightmare.

Some houses don't have big events as maybe just a couple of girls are interested in joining so they usually let you stop by at a mutually agreed upon time to have s chat.
