dropped out of rush
by: advice plsI dropped out of rush (as well as a bunch of other cool girls I know) but I still want to be in a sorority. what's the best way to do this (informal rush in the fall vs going through spring rush again next year??)

I'm seriously not trying to be rude but you probably shouldn't have been so stuck up and dropped when you got cut from houses you thought you belonged in. Next year when you rush as a sophomore it will be hard bc many houses are much harder on soph rushes and you have to be AMAZING to be in the house. Good luck!

You and all of the other girls who dropped this year really shouldn't have done that. You can't have a closed mind when it comes to rush, you might not have ended up where you thought you would but most girls end up loving their house and having an awesome time even if it wasn't their first choice. Girls who want to be in a sorority but dropped rush will struggle. Rushing as a sophomore is a lot more competitive and more houses will cut you. Good luck.

I'm not the OP, but I also dropped out and feel the same way. I really would love to join a sorority, but I knew when dropping out that i wouldn't have a chance as a sophomore. and before every jumps down my throat I went to pref round with solidly middle tier houses (tridelt, SDT, AXiD) but really didn't feel like I'd be happy there. I had my heart set on AChiO or KD after skits, but got cut from both.

75 percent of Cornell women never join a sorority--the vast majority because they are philosophically opposed to the whole process. Total strangers judging you on your looks and a few minutes of superficial conversation (what's your favorite tv show? Who is your favorite designer? What's your major?) If I had had more maturity and backbone I would have resisted the whole process. Now I'm pretty much stuck posing for inane photos to highlight us as baby dolls. you will make great friends outside of the Greeks. Stop moping and go meet people!
#6 by: Try and join
In the fall they have informal rush but be aware that unless you made it to the last day of a particular sororitiy you have little chance of getting in there on your second attempt. Yes, you could befriend lots of those sorority girls over the course of this semester but they don't forget that they cut you in the beginning rounds and usually don't give you a chance.
I would encourage you to join one of the sororities that really wanted you. Maybe you will be surprised that you like a few of the girls. You don't even know who their new pledge class is. If you give it s chance and still don't like it then you have the option to drop out.
#7 by: informal recruitment
I was left with only 1 house on skit day and it was the 1 house I didn't like from the beginning. I would have been fine with any house but that one house because a few of the girls had been rude to me on another occasion. I dropped but I was wondering which houses do informal recruitment and how that process works
