srats + frats questions?
by: incoming girl freshiehi all! about to be a freshman at Cornell and super excited. whats the party scene like? how often do people go out and what is o-week like? is there usually something going on every weekend? do the frats discriminate on who they let in? i really want a top sorority as well, any tips on getting into one without trying too hard? i'm from NYC and know lots of girls in top houses but don't want to come off snarky by asking them how they got into their houses. does your sorority determine how people see you on campus? are the t3 houses (kkg, dg, aphi) diverse? what does rush look like? would love any advice possible.

The party scene is about average. It's nothing in comparison to what you'd find at a Big 10 or SEC school, but is more active than most other ivies and T20 schools. O-week's a good time, and there's always some sort of party every weekend. The greek system is pretty unique since there are far more active chapters than usual for a school of Cornell's size. Around 25% of undergraduates are involved in greek life. Frats typically have 60-80 active members, and all sororities have around 160. Most of your other questions will get answered throughout your first semester.
Also, take everything on this site with a grain of salt. You'll find out how things are once you get to campus.
