how many open houses to go to?

by: openhouse

I hear I should have a list of 6-8 houses. Is this valid? And if I like a house do I need to go to both open house days? Thx yall.

I only went to like four and I regret not going to more despite being happy with my house. If nothing else, it's an opportunity to see some cool houses and meet some people you otherwise wouldn't. Six to eight sounds good, and I don't think you need to go on both days. Stay long enough to leave an impression and talk to as many people as you can. Good luck.

Yeah, about an hour. Staying too long looks a bit weird but it's fine to stay if you're enjoying yourself, still meeting new people, and your presence seems to be enjoyed. I'd say an hour or so as a soft rule, but leave early if you're not vibing and stay longer if you're having some great interactions.

I would advise looking into the frats ahead of time. Check out their Instagrams, websites, etc. Nothing is 100% certain but you can check out some rankings and other info on GreekRank. Use that info to narrow it down, then head to around half a dozen open houses. In general, you don't have to go to both opens at the same house, but you should express interest and make the most of your time at the opens you do go to.

This is good advice: research houses in advance (some have good websites and the Instas give you a sense of their day-to-day life), make a list of 6 to 8, and go for it.

Go to as many as possible. I went nearly everywhere and still got into my first choice. Rush week is still the the only time I got to see certain houses on the inside which was cool. I also met brothers in frats where I never really planned on rushing after open house that I am still friends with, those connections are good to have

It’s a time management issue ultimately, but hit more than 6-8 if you can. It’s cool seeing the inside of the best physical houses during the daytime. Plus you never know who you’ll vibe with. I walked in to my house cold on day one because I loved the architecture and wanted to see the inside, wound up really hitting it off with guys that first day and the rest is history. I’d originally had another house in mind where I already knew people, but my house was the right choice for me and it happened only because I decided to hit a bunch of open houses.
