Open houses for frat rush
by: WonderingFrosh wondering how many houses roughly should I go to during the open houses/ rush. I am interested in a few frats already but not sure how many is the ideal amount. 3? 5?

If you haven’t been dirty rushed, check out 1 upper, 2 upper mids, 2 mids. Check out 2-3 houses per time slot. Each time slot should be 3-4 hours long so you can evenly spread out the time. If you don’t get an invite after going the first day or you feel like the conversations aren’t going smooth/well and you have to try hard, that most likely means frat doesn’t want you.
If that happens, start looking lower (lower mid etc as a safety). By second day your list should be narrowed down to 3-4 core houses. One reach, two targets and then a safety frat. Safety frats are EXTREMELY important.

Would also like to add that if you’re just hovering around and you aren’t feeling it, better not to waste time and just dip. It’s important to NOT hover around and do nothing like a weirdo. Talk to brothers but don’t cut other pnms off or seem too enthusiastic. That’s also weird. Take a shot or something before you leave for open houses and act chill. Go with your buddies if it helps (2-3 close friends). Also when I say check out a lower house like lower mid that doesn’t mean you just show face for 15 minutes. Check the house out for 20-25 minutes and don’t treat it different. If you feel you’ve made a significant enough impact only then dip. Frats will understand you’re looking at other houses and won’t expect you to stay for the whole hour. They are also trying to talk to other PNMs
In case you don’t get any invites at all, don’t stress. Ask your buddies that have been invited to rush events to ask rush chairs if you can talk along (this most likely only applies for mids and below). Good luck and lmk if you have any other questions
