Pros and Cons of Top Houses
by: ProCons
-Delta Gamma (DG, Deeg): Very strong mixing schedule. If you go DG, they are likely also taking your friends (different story if not, but that's uncommon/a fluke), so you won't have to worry about fitting in. The house is super nice. Great alumni network. Your letters will give you pretty solid clout. You'll have chiller and more bougie/metropolitan kind of fun (weekends in NYC instead of here, trips to the Hamptons, etc.) which is ideal for most girls they take.
-Kappa Kappa Gamma (Kappa, KKG): Arguably strongest mixing schedule. You're likely to make a lot of friends with people you've never met, they don't really take big groups. Their newer PC has a bond like crazy glue, they may be going for that again. Known to be party animals and not care what people think, so they have a reputation for being fun among frats. Very rarely left out of major events/4+ ways.
-Alpha Phi (APhi): Arguably also strongest mixing schedule. You will likely feel very pretty joining, since they emphasize to their new joiners that they only take the most gorgeous girls- so, big confidence boost. You will therefore have very pretty friends, ones you knew before or not, which can get you far here. Pretty nice house. Reputation for being good looking and a good time, so you should have an easy time dating/with boys. Also strong relations with athletic teams.
-Kappa Alpha Theta (Theta): Opens a big network on campus for high positions in many academic and interest clubs/publications. Very chill sisterhood, uniquely un-Greek experience lacking most superficiality. Not a huge social commitment if you aren't looking for one. Strong relations with a few specific houses, so you're likely to make strong bonds with the boys in them, as opposed to acquaintances at many places.
-Sigma Delta Tau (SDT): Tight sisterhood of girls who were very close before recruitment-- an ideal place for girls looking to stick close to their first semester friends. Extremely close with one fraternity, you are likely to feel like you have a second family on campus in that fraternity. Fairly academic, you will be surrounded by very academic people and have many resources to help with your classes. Also immune to most of the Cornell administration discrimination/bias against C4, so you rarely will need to worry about your chapter getting in trouble.
