How do rankings work?

by: curious

I’m a freshmen being dirty rushed by an upper mid and mid house but don’t really see much of a difference. every party it’s dark so you can’t really see much of a difference in girls and they’ve always had similar beers to give me. met pretty cool guys in each house and like them similar amount but curious as to why the upper mid is objectively better

They're basically a tier system that shows who associates with whom. Top frats (SX, SPhi, DU) mix with top sororities (DX, APHi, Kappa, Theta). Lower tier frats mix with lower tier sororities. Ranks beyond the tiers are somewhat subjective and depend on what the creator values (ex. brotherhood, quality of parties, looks, relations, physical house). At the end of the day, join where you fit in.

Upper mid isn’t objectively better, each tier (and house) fits some people better than others. Main difference is sorority relations, but ultimately you should join whichever you vibe the most with
