rec letters

I keep hearing that "everybody has rec letters, they won't do much for you getting into that sorority." Is that correct? Does anyone who has been a part of the selection process know about how many people bring letters of recommendation/how much weight they pull?

At some other schools, everyone may have rec letters. However, here a good estimate is that only about 1/2 of PNM's do, but they really don't matter that much. Several girls (including me) get into their top choice without any. But honestly what pulls the most weight is how you connect with the girls in each house.
