There isn't "too many" girls cut. Sorority council tells each sorority how many to cut based on quota for each sororities pledge class. Now, within that cut, some cut more of those girls bc of grades rather than scores but it's all pretty much similar

pledge class quota is a range not a single number (for example (fake numbers) quota would be 120-125 or something like that, depending on how many girls are going through, how many on average drop in previous years, etc, it's all done by math and the range and numbers change every year). So yes they have to take relatively the same amount but certain sororities might stay on the lower end if they are already large and aren't known to have girls drop.
