I know the deadline is soon, but does it matter when you register for recruitment? Like does it look bad if you wait until the last few weeks to sign up? I'm still trying to decide

No, it doesn't matter when you sign up, just make sure you do it before the deadline! If you're thinking about it, just go ahead and do it, and give recruitment a try.
